Programming More Cursors for My 5 Computer Mice

rustlinuxcursorsexperiments

The gods have bestowed upon me- oh sorry, this isn’t my satire dev blog, this is real. Check out my second cursor I created using Rust recently!

Here, you can see both the cursors - a white mouse (the fake one) and a black one (the real one):

There’s really not much else to tell. I regret to inform you that I did this using AI because, well, I’m, not actually very good with Rust yet and this seemed like a pretty complex thing to do. So yeah, not feeling too accomplished, but it is pretty cool to play around with. It’s not very useful though, or natural. Two hands on two mice? Even after swapping the left and right mouse buttons on the left mouse, I just don’t have the same fine motor control and muscle memory over my left hand than I do with my right hand when using a mouse.

As I’m writing this, I have a sudden urge to get 14 different cursors going at once. Since I don’t have 14 cursors or USB slots, let’s try 5 instead: 4 mice and the laptop trackpad. It took a while, but it works! Check out this screenshot of 5 cursors over my desktop wallpaper:
